Charlie Sheen Sees Prenup as a ‘Formality’ in Fourth Marriage

They say marriage is better the second time around, but what about the third or fourth time around? Actor Charlie Sheen seems to think the fourth will be his lucky one. After proposing to his 24-year-old girlfriend in Hawaii, it is being reported that Sheen plans to have a prenuptial agreement. That’s somewhat surprising considering he feels he does not really need one and sees it only as a “formality.”

But let’s take his full situation into consideration. This will be his fourth marriage. Not only does he have several kids from previous marriages, but he also parted with $3.5 million during his last divorce. That may not seem like a lot considering he has a net worth of $125 million, but it is important to remember that at one point, Sheen was paying $55,000 a month in child support for two of his children.

With all this in mind, some might say it is extremely wise for Sheen to get a prenup, even though he considers the 24-year-old his soul mate. It is reported that the prenuptial agreement will likely be more lenient than the one he had with his third wife.

California readers may think that prenuptial agreements are only beneficial for wealthy individuals like Sheen, but the reality is that it can play an important role in strengthening any marriage. Instead of having to accept the default provisions of community property law in California, a couple can work out their own terms that suit their individual needs.
